FIA to review F1 superlicence system amid COVID-19 disruption – F1

The FIA will conduct a full review of its current Formula 1 superlicence points system in order to avoid drivers being disadvantaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The FIA introduced a new points-based system for drivers to gain a superlicence, which is required to race in F1, in 2016 as part of its restructuring of the junior single-seater ladder.

Drivers wishing to race in F1 must gain 40 points across three seasons in other championships, encouraging them to rise through the FIA’s single-seater ladder to gain experience and accrue the required total.

Many racing seasons have been shortened or altered as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, while many young drivers are facing budget constraints and uncertain futures.

The FIA has now confirmed it will be conducting a full review of the existing superlicence system, saying it wanted to “ensure that the superlicence system that underpins its pathway from

Ireland’s motor tax system is so high in terms of price that motorists are finding it too costly to switch to new, greener car models, a major new report will say today.

Leading economist Colm McCarthy states that the current level of tax on new cars is hindering motorists from switching to newer, greener models, thereby preventing a reduction in carbon emissions.

In addition, the report says motor taxes should be used for the maintenance and safety of Ireland’s transport.

Steiner: F1 penalty system “not working right” after Albon British GP clash – F1

Haas boss Gunther Steiner says Formula 1’s penalty system isn’t “working right” after Red Bull’s Alex Albon was penalised five seconds for hitting Kevin Magnussen at the British Grand Prix.

The lap one incident resulted in Magnussen firing into the barriers on the exit of the final corner and retiring with a badly damaged car, with Magnussen labelling the move as “poorly judged” after the race.

Steiner contrasted Albon’s penalty with the 10 seconds added to the race times of the two Haas drivers in the Hungarian Grand Prix, when Magnussen and Romain Grosjean both pitted for dry tyres before the start following a discussion with their engineers.

However this was deemed to be in contravention of a 2017 technical directive that was designed to stop pre-race radio chatter on the formation lap about clutch bite points and any other form of “coaching” from the pit wall.

ECCO Launches Electric Vehicle Alert System Ahead of Federal Regulations

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration outlines the minimum sound emitting requirements in regulation FMVSS 141. Essentially, vehicles under 10,000lbs that operate on public roads and spaces need an audible signature above ambient street noise when accelerating, decelerating, reversing and idling. The measure is intended to protect vulnerable pedestrians and reduce injury crashes involving silently running cars.

EVAS offers the latest technology in the industry’s most reliable speaker, producing a 360-degree perimeter of sound around the vehicle. It features a wide frequency band (350Hz to 5KHz) and can be programmed with a variety of approved tones. Visit the dedicated EVAS page and listen to sample sound profiles. ECCO will work with customers to develop their unique “voice.” Electric car manufacturer Karma Automotive partnered with ECCO to do just that late last year, giving their line of luxury cars a branded acoustic signature.

Easily install EVAS in any vehicle, from passenger

What is a Transportation Management System (TMS)

A transportation management system (TMS) is specialized software for planning, executing and optimizing the shipment of goods. Users perform three main tasks on a TMS: Find and compare the rates (prices) and services of carriers available to ship a customer’s order, book the shipment, then track its movement to delivery. The broader goals of using a TMS are to improve shipping efficiency, reduce costs, gain real-time supply chain visibility and ensure customer satisfaction.

TMSes are one of the core technologies used in supply chain management (SCM), a discipline sometimes divided into supply chain execution (SCE) and supply chain planning (SCP). They are available as stand-alone software or as modules within enterprise resource planning (ERP) and SCM suites. Typically, a TMS serves both shippers, carriers and other logistics providers. Manufacturers, distributors, e-commerce organizations, wholesalers, retailers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) are major users of TMS software.

While some TMSes focus on
