Podcast: Jury’s out on Ferrari’s Hungary F1 practice pace – F1

Friday in Hungary saw Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes dominate proceedings in the dry opening practice, sending an ominous warning shot to their Formula 1 rivals.

Hamilton set the pace on the hardest tyre compound in FP1 before rain limited running through second practice, but with no real threat from Red Bull thus far, Mercedes look to be in control of proceedings at the Hungaroring.

Sebastian Vettel was able to top the timesheets in the wet FP2 session, but the bigger success for Ferrari were positive noises over the update package that debuted in Austria last weekend without offering a notable performance step.

It was also a busy day off-track as tensions continued to brew in the Racing Point/Renault protest saga, leading many to question what precedent it could set for F1’s future.

Recapping all of Friday’s action in Hungary in the latest edition of The Autosport Podcast, F1 reporter Luke Smith is joined by technical editor Jake Boxall-Legge.
