Subsidies for electric vehicles likely from next week, says transport minister Gahlot – delhi news

As many as 1,280 new electric vehicles (EVs) have been registered in the national capital since the notification of the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy, 2020, on August 7, but these vehicle owners are yet to get the subsidy promised to them by the policy.

This is because the Delhi government is yet to set up the state EV fund and transport minister Kailash Gahlot said subsidies and other benefits such as a waiver on road tax and registration fee are likely to be launched next week.

The government had announced a subsidy of ₹1.5 lakh (₹10,000 per kWh of battery capacity) for the first 1,000 electric four-wheelers. A subsidy of up to ₹30,000 (₹5,000 per kWh of battery capacity) was to be given on the purchase of each electric two-wheeler, auto-rickshaw, rickshaw and freight vehicle.

Also, those buying electric vehicles are to be exempted from paying road tax and registration

Petrol and diesel cars set to be banned from sale by 2030 under Government plans to cut carbon emissions

PETROL and diesel cars are set to be banned from sale by 2030 under new Government plans to cut carbon emissions.

PM Boris Johnson is expected to confirm the new target as soon as next week in a bid to achieve net-zero carbon emissions in the UK before 2050.

The ban, which was originally set for 2040, has been brought forward by an entire decade in order for the UK to reach the 2050 target, reports The Times.

Back in February, the Government brought forward the ban to 2035 as part of a launch event for a United Nations climate summit in November.

During the event, Johnson said that 2020 would be a “defining year of climate action” for the planet.

Transport secretary Grant Shapps warned in late

Government must deliver a green recovery for transport by 2030

The Government must put forward a convincing, ambitious plan to ensure a smooth, green transition for our transport sector, writes Kerry McCarthy MP. | PA Images

Labour is calling for the Government to bring the planned phase-out of the sale of new petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles forward from 2040 to 2030.

Amid the chaos of the last few months, you could be forgiven for forgetting that we are still in the midst of a climate emergency. Despite the dramatic falls in air pollution and car usage seen at the start of the coronavirus lockdown, they are now steadily returning to pre-pandemic levels.

The main contributor to UK emissions and air pollution is now our transport sector. Despite progress on transport decarbonisation under the last Labour Government, the Tories have failed to act. Transport emissions have been largely stagnant over the

California sets new car ICE ban for 2035 | Automotive Industry News

This latest move by Californias state governor will likely ratchet up tensions with Washington

This latest move by California’s state governor will likely ratchet up tensions with Washington

The US State of California’s Governor has said it will require that by 2035, all new cars and passenger trucks sold in California are zero emission vehicles.

Governor Gavin Newsom said he will aggressively move the state further away from its reliance on fossil fuels. He has issued an executive order requiring sales of all new passenger vehicles to be zero-emission by 2035 and additional measures to eliminate harmful emissions from the transportation sector.

In a statement Newsom’s office noted that the transportation sector is responsible for more than half of all of California’s carbon pollution, 80 percent of smog-forming pollution and 95 percent of toxic diesel emissions.

“This is the most impactful step our state can take to fight climate change,” said Governor Newsom.

“For too many decades, we have allowed cars to pollute the

Labour steps up push for 2030 petrol and diesel car sales ban

The opposition joins Greenpeace and Green Alliance in warning the government should introduce a ban of fossil-fuel cars by 2030 if it wants to meet its 2050 emissions target

Greenpeace and Green Alliance have today warned the government must ban sales of all new petrol, diesel, and hybrid cars and vans by 2030 if wants to stand a chance of meeting its 2050 net zero emissions target – a move that came in the same week as Labour stepped up its calls for Ministers to pull forward the date for ending the sale of conventional cars.

With transport responsible for the largest slice of the country’s emissions, a phase out of polluting vehicles by 2030 is the “single most important measure” the government can introduce to get the country on track to meet its long-term climate targets,

Anantapur RTA officials unearth car sale scam that used software loophole

The Road Transport Authority (RTA) officials in Anantapur unearthed a scam in which a gang changed the registration numbers of cars using a loophole in the online procedure of the department and sold them cheaply.

The miscreants, who allegedly bought the cars on finance, made the financiers believe that they were stolen and even lodged police complaints claiming that the vehicles were missing. In the process, they reportedly evaded payment of lifetime road tax running into lakhs of rupees.Six such vehicles – four in Tadipatri and one in Kalyandurg and one in Owk of Kurnool district – were confiscated by the DTC Anantapur and RTO Anantapur DSM Varaprasad and their teams after verifying the old RCs by retrieving data from back-end servers. Some vehicles are said to be still running in Telangana and Karnataka.

Deputy Transport Commissioner N. Sivaram Prasad said they had chanced upon two vehicles that

JR car park sale alarm highlights absurd situation at great hospital

THE alarm at the John Radcliffe that vital staff parking space could be sold off is a reminder of the preposterous situation around parking there.

For years, staff and patients at our world-class hospital have complained at having to queue for up to an hour just to get a space, with many parking on surrounding residential streets instead.

We have even reported on homeowners in the area making cold, hard cash by renting out their driveways.

The situation clearly causes a lot of stress for employees and families who are already inherently dealing with a lot of stress from the very fact they are driving to a hospital – whether they are going to work or visiting a friend or relative.

One obvious, simple, and popular solution would be a multi-storey car park which could fit hundreds of cars.

Unfortunately for fans of that idea, our city council won’t allow

California Bans the Sale of New Gas and Diesel Cars by 2035

As the global climate crisis literally heats up before humanity’s eyes, countries across the globe are taking drastic action to slash carbon outputs–many of them by moving to ban the sale of new internal combustion-engined vehicles (ICEVs). Some locales, such as Great Britain, have proposed merely culling diesel engines 15 years from now, while others such as Amsterdam have floated complete prohibitions on internal combustion engines (ICE) as soon as a decade out. And joining their ranks somewhere in the middle will be the state of California, whose Governor Gavin Newsom just signed a ban on the sale of new ICE vehicles by 2035.

California To Ban Sale Of New Gas-Powered Cars By 2035

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order Wednesday to ban the sale and manufacturing of new gas-only cars in 2035. The mandate, aimed at combatting climate change, will require all new vehicles sold in the Golden State to have zero emissions.

California’s transportation sector has contributed to at least 50 percent carbon emissions released into the atmosphere, contributing to rising climate problems and hampering air quality, the governor said Wednesday. By eliminating gas-powered vehicles, total greenhouse gas emissions would be limited by more than a third, significantly reducing tailpipe pollution.

The California governor’s decision to sign an order over the legislative process is one of the most aggressive actions taken to tackle climate change within the United States.

“I don’t know of any other state in this country that’s been more forceful and forthright in establishing an anchor and a consciousness around climate change,” Newsom said.

The ban
