Autosport Podcast: Styrian Grand Prix review – F1

Although held at the same track as the previous week’s Austrian Grand Prix, the Formula 1 Styrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring created an entirely different race.

Lewis Hamilton led after qualifying on pole by 1.2-seconds in a wet qualifying to score his 85th F1 victory, as team-mate Valtteri Bottas secured a 1-2 for Mercedes by passing Max Verstappen’s Red Bull late on.

The unique experiment of staging back-to-back races at the same venue to get the much delayed 2020 season underway offered teams an unprecedented opportunity to refine their set-ups and understanding of their new cars, but while Red Bull bounced back from a double retirement in the season opener, not every team took full advantage.

A first lap collision between Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel meant both Ferraris retired, robbing it of the chance to test its hastily fast-tracked new upgrades.

On the latest edition of the Autosport Podcast, Grand Prix editor Alex Kalinauckas is joined live from the track by our reporter Jonathan Noble, along with Stuart Codling and Luke Smith to dig into the key talking points.
