Could Lithium Shortage Scupper Accelerating Sales Of Electric Cars?

dul sanchez

Politicians have decreed that Europeans must embrace electric cars, and to make sure, they are trying to force early retirement for internal combustion engine (ICE) powered vehicles. But a shortage of a key battery component, lithium, might scupper that plan and force carmakers to return to the drawing board.

Experts say current supplies of lithium are adequate for the current electric car global market share of about 2.6% and probably will keep pace with the expected growth towards 14% in Europe by 2025. But after that demand will outstrip supply and likely halt the predicted powerful acceleration in electric car sales.

Law should require electric cars to make up one in six new cars sold

dul sanchez

The Government should enforce new rules that require 15 per cent of all new cars sold by manufacturers to be fully electric vehicles, according to a campaign group.

With the latest pure electric models becoming more affordable and offering longer driving ranges between charges, charity Global Action Plan says ministers should force the hand of car firms to do more to promote plug-in vehicles.

It said the Government has allowed ‘corporate failure’ in recent years, with auto firms permitted to market gas-guzzling SUVs when cleaner vehicles should be promoted.

A calculation has revealed which on-sale electric models cost the least to drive 100 miles – find out which cars top the charts below.

Government has allowed 'corporate failure' when it comes to electric cars: A campaign group has called on ministers to introduce new laws to promote the sale of zero-emission cars and cut back on marketing of gas-guzzling vehicles like SUVs

Brand-new doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank

It is thought that as well as many people who are reaching the end of a finance deal and those who simply want a new car, many people are considering switching to their own transport in an effort to avoid public transport.

While some people looking for a cheap way to get mobile will be happy to consider a second-hand model, others will be keen to have the reassurance of buying a brand-new car backed by a full manufacturer warranty and dealer aftercare.

But buying brand new doesn’t have to mean

Energy Transfer: Get Paid An 18% Yield While Waiting For A 50% Increase In Units (NYSE:ET)

dul sanchez

Energy Transfer (NYSE:ET) is frequently written about on Seeking Alpha. Over the past 90 days, 15 contributors have written about ET, 4 were very bullish, 6 were bullish, and 5 were neutral. Wall Street also has its eye on ET as 19 analysts have applied ratings to ET of which 9 were very bullish, 4 were bullish, and 6 were neutral. Not a single Seeking Alpha contributor or analyst on Wall Street has applied a rating lower than neutral to ET. Over the past year, ET’s performance has been the exact opposite of what many had hoped for, leaving a sour taste with some and providing an opportunity for others.

Maybe everyone is incorrect, and we’re just chasing false hopes with ET. The energy sector has been decimated throughout 2020 as we saw negative oil prices, global supply and demand problems, and the effects of COVID-19 on not just businesses

Ireland’s motor tax system is so high in terms of price that motorists are finding it too costly to switch to new, greener car models, a major new report will say today.

Leading economist Colm McCarthy states that the current level of tax on new cars is hindering motorists from switching to newer, greener models, thereby preventing a reduction in carbon emissions.

In addition, the report says motor taxes should be used for the maintenance and safety of Ireland’s transport.

Some Melbourne Uber drivers say they are afraid for their health after unknowingly transporting potentially infectious passengers to Covid-19 testing facilities.

Melbourne driver Haran Taneja said he was scared to hold his infant child for days after picking up a rider who suspected she could have Covid-19 and wished to get tested.

“Before we pick up the passenger we don’t know where we are going … When I saw the address I didn’t know there was corona testing there,” he said.

When we were two minutes away she told me ‘I have to get tested for Covid, I have to be tested in your car’, I was really shocked

Publications – Research & Commentary: Transportation and Climate Initiative Would Be Bad for the Bay State

dul sanchez

An analysis from the Beacon Hill Institute (BHI) details how the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI), a cap-and-trade scheme, would harm Massachusetts residents, especially low-income individuals, in a misguided attempt to decrease global temperatures by an amount so miniscule as to be environmentally meaningless.

TCI, promoted by the Georgetown Climate Center, is based on California’s cap-and-trade program and the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) consortium of states in New England and the Northeast, which Massachusetts is already a party to. The purpose of TCI is to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from cars and trucks to head off climate change. It does this by placing a cap on gasoline and diesel fuel allowed for sale in the states participating in the program. This increases the price at the pump for these fuels, which will most adversely impact hard-working residents of the Bay State.

Gradually, the amount of these

Good Samaritans Shock Stranger in a Parking Lot Offering to Transport Their Appliance When it Doesn’t Fit

If you come across these “Guardian Angels” in Ogdensburg, New York, please extend to them “A Thousand Thanks” from me.

Imagine this. In the midst of a global pandemic, and under a continental heat dome, I decided it was finally time to replace my inoperable propane grill. My friend in her roomy Forester, and I in my tiny Prius C headed to the local big box store to buy a shiny new on-sale model. She parked in front of the line of grills, I ran into the store, bought the grill and within 10 minutes a couple employees were ready to load it into my friend’s Suburu.

44x 45 inches. No matter how often, or which way the saleswomen measured it, the Forester offered 1” less breadth than needed.

While considering swapping the ready-to-go grill for the boxed need-to-put-together grill, I calculated the expected assembly time, and quickly realized that

Fuel Rationing Plunges Oil-Rich Venezuela Deeper Into Crisis

dul sanchez

(Bloomberg) — Venezuela is once again shuttering gas stations across the country as the chronic shortage of fuel deepens due to ailing refineries and crippling sanctions limiting imports into the country.

State oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA is rationing fuel nationwide, according to a person familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because the information isn’t public. The move is partially a result of two of the country’s biggest refineries suffering serious breakdowns in recent weeks amid sweeping U.S. government sanctions banning the sale of gasoline to the country.

The shortage has deepened since Iran sent sent five tankers laden with fuel in May and June to Venezuela, causing U.S. officials to issue warnings to Tehran. No more shipments have been received since. Iran

Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial review: coolest van on sale?

dul sanchez

What is that?
About the coolest thing I’ve driven recently. It’s a Toyota Land Cruiser van, and I’m a bit smitten.
Um, why?
Just look at it! Steel wheels, cloth seats and nary a sop to glitz, glamour or gadgetry. It’s transport at its most workmanlike and, in a market awash with the kind of mixed messages an electric-performance-SUV-coupe can’t help but transmit, there’s an undeniable appeal to this vehicle’s complete and utter lack of BS.
Its recipe is simple – tons of space at the back and a big, torquey diesel up front driving all four wheels below – and its aesthetic simpler still. And all from around £27,000 if you’re not paying VAT, or just over £33,000 if you are. Which is nearly nine grand cheaper than the new Land Rover Defender van.
But I don’t get alloys?
Why would you want them? Shiny wheels will stop
